Now Featuring:
TornadoTamer[tm] Door.
The door that we offer is Texas Tech
tested and 3rd party certified by a professional engineer for use in
FEMA 320 settings. This is designed for residential use.
New for 2011: The Fema 320 rated door has been certified by a Professional Engineer for inclusion on concrete or concrete block shelters. The door is tested at TTU and now we have taken the extra step to present the door design to an Engineer who gave his approval by stamping the design.
The door is made of 1/4 plate steel on a
steel tubing frame. The jam is made of ts 2" X
4". This assembly is set into a 4" angle frame. It is made to set into the opening you leave
if you are working with a concrete shelter
within your home or a concrete block type
shelter.
Since we build the doors, we are happy to also
offer a 36" door. We can offer the door as a
'swing in' or a 'swing out' design. Both are
tested.
Typical Sizes: 2'6X6'0 for RO 36X76 /// 2'6X6'8 for RO 36X84 /// 3'0X6'0 for RO 42X76 /// 3'0X6'8 for RO 42X84
Weights on doors begin at 315# up to 395#
Anchorage is achieved with 1/2"X4" wedge anchors set into solid concrete wall or 1/2"X4" sleeve anchors if the wall is block with concrete to backfill.
If you need the door made for the opening you have already formed, we can accomodate this request. The door is built with the tube steel exposed but we can place a cover plate (as seen in picture above to far right) on the back of the door for a more finished look.
Large orders welcome and discounts considered for multiple doors ordered. Recent order of 28 doors that went to Peoria, IL for a project. 5 to Alcorn County for Community Shelter projects thru out the county.
The door opens and locks with a single turn
that sets 3 steel cams; one in the top jam, one
at the latch side, and one into the bottom jam
plate. It comes painted a beige color and is
ready to be set into the opening prepared for it
and set with Hilti epoxy and anchors that will
secure the door into place.
** Vent Blocks available for concrete block shelter design. Made of 3/16" steel with a rain guard. Built to the size of a 8"X16" block and used in place of block to allow ventillation of block shelters. Used recently upon Community Shelters in Alcorn County, MS. Pictures soon.
