(not shown on this picture) * Standard Size: 6x8 This is great if you have a hill close to your home. Don’t put it too far away as FEMA warns a lot of injuries occur en route to shelters. You need a hill at least 5 ft tall for this one. It is also made very strong. Notice the picture of the bull dozer going over the top of this shelter. They drive all over it with this plus the other heavy equipment and it never phases it in the least. This also lets you know how safe it is if something should fall on it or be shot into it during a storm. The door is made the same as our above ground models- Safe Room and Safe Shed- which has been tested for 250 mph wind force. It also has extra heavy steel wings (1/4 inch plate steel) around it which makes an excellent entrance, and gives you added protection from debris falling at your door. Most debris will roll off should it fall there. It is great since you just walk inside and is even handicapped accessible. No need to be embedded in concrete, as it isn’t below water level and not susceptible to float. The hill creates a suction which is why this model doesn't need concrete to hold it in. |
