* Door - Tested at TTU - 1/4 inch plate steel on a steel frame attached with 3 heavy duty bullet hinges.    Doors are all Texas Tech tested with a single turn, triple lock set.
* Door entrance has extra 1/4 inch steel wings at sides (protects from falling debris)
* Entrance is wheel chair or handicap accessible
* 2-4" vents with turbine ventilators * Standard Size: 6x6x6'0*4X8X6'0 is also an optional size

This is a great unit if you have a hill close to your home.  Don’t put it too far away as FEMA warns that most injuries occur en route to shelters.   You will need a hill that is at least 5 ft tall for this unit to install properly.  It is also made very strong.  Notice the picture of the bull dozer going over the top of this shelter.  They drive all over it with this plus the other heavy equipment and it never phases it.  This also lets you know how safe it is if something should fall on it or be shot into it during a storm.  

The door is the same as our above ground models- Safe Room and Safe Shed- which has been tested for 250 mph wind force. It also has extra heavy steel wings (1/4 inch plate steel) around it which makes an excellent entrance, and gives you added protection from debris falling at your door.  Most debris will roll off should it fall there. 

The Hillside unit allows you to walk inside with no steps and is handicapped accessible.
