We are a family business which stemmed from a successful steel welding and fabrication business that has been around since 1980. Our shop is located near Jackson, TN. During past tornadoes which hit Jackson, the founder was involved in the cleanup and in the re-construction of the area. Friends lost, both their homes and jobs, (as their place of business was also destroyed), but thankfully not their lives. After looking around at the loss of lives and destruction, Dave decided to build a variety of shelters that would be virtually indestructible. He knew steel was one of the few materials which would meet this requirement, as he has spent the past 40 years working with it. For over 25 years, he has fabricated and erected many buildings in the West TN area. He has worked in all phases of the steel business and knows what steel will and won't do. That's the reason he decided to build these shelters in the way he does. We have continued to upgrade our product line as the need for it has been realized and returned to Texas Tech for additional testing when we offer a new product or change. We have also secured 3rd party certification by a professional engineer on almost all our shelters. Only a couple remain to be detailed and presented to the engineer for his review.
After wide spread storms, shelter providers pop up at random. We are proud to be the steady company for families to turn to. While others come and go, we continue to work along providing a safe place for your loved ones and yourself.
********New Design * In Slab Below Garage Shelter * Full Size Unit*********
In 2011, we have designed a unit for InSlab install beneath your concrete slab in the garage. We took this door to Texas Tech for testing and passed. Pictures will be forthcoming soon. Larry Tanner of TTU called our newly designed door a 'monster door' that was 'cleverly designed'. Thank you, Dad. We are pleased to offer this design to families at this time. The typical unit is a size 4X8X6 with the slider door. We also plan to offer the unit is a size 4X8X5 and a size 6X8X6.
We are redesigning our Underground unit to make it more compact for install and less in cost. New pictures will be available on this design soon.
Our shelters are built to the customers specifications. We have standard sizes, but are glad to create a custom size unit to fit your needs. We have both below and above ground shelters. Our above ground unit, 'the SafeRoom' meets and exceeds FEMA 320 requirements and has been tested for 250 mph wind force and approved as a unit safe to be used above ground. The 250 miles wind force testing that was done at Texas Tech on our unit indented the steel by approximately 1". They allow a unit to pass testing as long as it does not indent beyond 3". Our unit will prevent debris from entering with you and your family in the strongest of storms (F5). All of our unit doors areTexas Tech tested. We have also received our certification from a professional engineer to give added assurance that our manner of building the units is approved to stand up to high wind storms. So no matter what your circumstances are, we can build a safe shelter to fit your needs.
